Matthew 16:18-19 (New International Version)
18And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."
Gate
Greek: Pule; Denotes place of authority)
It has the power to allow people in or out. It is synonymous with power.
In the New Living Translation it says the "power of hell."
Hades
The Greek definition means "unseen."
In context, Jesus was saying the unseen demonic power of hell are sent to attack you when you least expect it.
Example: You google a "Turkey", then it becomes "Turkey Bird", and it becomes "Bird of Las Vegas", "Bird of XXX".
#1 You need to be planted on the rock.
Peter in Greek means "rock".
There are two forms of rock in this scripture. Peter and the Greek word "Rock" don't mean the same thing.
Church should not be built on a man.
Jesus wasn't talking about building the rock on Peter, but on Jesus.
Testimony
1 John 4:4 "Greater is He that is in us."
There was a large family in Japan who was powerful in Buddhism. But there's no free lunch with Satan and every husband in her family never lived pass 42. But someone witnessed to her and told her there's a greater power in Jesus and now the curse is broken. Jesus took her shame.
#2 You need to be part of the church.
When Jesus said this he was prophesying.
Hawaii is the only state with growing church attendance because out of the United States Hawaii is the only Uniting States. All kinds of church are coming together!
#3 Praying with authority.
Jesus said "19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."
The point is Jesus gave us the key to unlock every locks. If the strongholds of the enemy are loosing demons to go after you then you can lock up that stronghold with the key!
You can release healing when you pray with authority!
